STEWARDSHIP, LANGUAGE AND CULTURE

Supporting Emerging Aboriginal Stewards (SEAS) Program

The purpose of the program is to ensure that all students learn and directly experience the cultural traditions of food gathering and harvesting of all the traditional resources available to Kitasoo Xai’Xais members.

Through this program, we are able to host various traditional feasts and food-related activities with parents and community members. Students experience the full benefits of the sustainable resources as well as the meaning of inherent Indigenous rights that comes with membership.

Many of SEAS’ activities take place in the territory or on the land. Parents are required to give permission for major field trips (that are off-site). (Please see below.)

This program is funded in part by the Nature Conservatory on a year-to-year basis.
