MONTHLY ASSEMBLIES and EVENTS

We invite parents, guardians, and other family members to join us for READ with a KID assemblies @ 11:00 am, followed by “READ with a KID.”

  1. Territorial acknowledgment
  2. Cultural and/or language activity and/or drumming
  3. Values activity, presentation, game, or song: Interconnectedness, Intergenerational Knowledge, Reciprocity, and Respect
  4. Share any school updates, reminders, news, storytelling,  guest speakers, etc.
  5. “READ with a KID” @ 11:30 am (or when the assembly finishes)
  • Students will supply the books; adults just come with the willingness to read or listen to students read, and a joy for literacy and community!

ASSEMBLY EXPECTATIONS

Each month, we celebrate our school’s values. These are values we wish to uphold, model, and see in our students. During most assemblies, students sit with their class, in a designated place. We ask that they are a polite, respectful, and quiet audience while students, parents/families, or other guests present or perform.

2021-2022 KITASOO/ XAI’XAIS VALUES

All classes are encouraged to practice, celebrate, and participate in activities in class and for the whole school (ex: at assemblies, Cultural Fridays, or other events) related to the four Kitasoo/ Xai’xais values: Interconnectedness, Intergenerational Knowledge, Reciprocity, and Respect. In class, teachers and staff may emphasize the value and themes of the month as they apply 1) at home, 2) at school, and 3) with friends and others.
